A painted series

Paintings across different media that explore voyeuristic spaces and homocentric troupes of desire.

The works focus on fantastical moments where seemingly disparate codes of behaviour are interlaced and re-imagined. Demonstrations of high feminization twinned with machismo male preening are subsumed into environments where urban sportswear bravado can be pitched alongside coded courtly handling of seventeenth century fans.

Intended as reclamation of both the binary social expectation placed on gendered behaviour, and a conjoining of conflicting references drawn from the breadth of gay culture, classical mythology and contemporary urban angst, the different elements within the paintings act as mutational agents of both disruption and idealistic emergence.

Formed within the porous paint and graphic motifs on the canvasses or objects of sporting prowess, these ideas aim to oscillate between pure image and pure abstract material.
